Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly
There are Medicare and Medicaid Programs to help communities meet their health care needs. One such program is the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), which provides care and services to people who would otherwise need care in a nursing home. Some of the services covered by PACE include medical care, social services, and long-term care costs for frail people. PACE permits most people who qualify to continue living at home instead of moving to a long-term care facility. There may be a monthly premium for the long-term care benefit. PACE is available only in some states. To find out more about PACE click here .
State Health Insurance Assistance Program
The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is a national program offered in each State that provides counseling and assistance to Medicare-eligible individuals and their families. The counseling provided is on Medicare, Medicaid, and Medicare supplemental insurance (Medigap) related matters. For a list of SHIP counselors by state and to learn more click here .
Department of Veterans Affairs
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) may provide long-term care or at-home care for some veterans.
